Engineering behind every event

Operating one of the UK’s largest event stadiums demands more than routine maintenance. It requires a highly coordinated, responsive approach that ensures every system performs under pressure; before, during and after events, hosting tens of thousands of visitors.

As the technical services maintenance partner, we provide a full range of planned preventative and reactive mechanical and electrical services across the estate. Our role is to ensure the stadium operates smoothly and efficiently at all times, supporting both day-to-day operations and the intense demands of major live events.

Working in close collaboration with our client, we apply a bespoke and flexible approach to intelligent building management, using data-driven methods to identify and resolve issues more quickly, improve energy and water performance, and enhance the overall management of building assets.

This is particularly important as the stadium continues its journey towards net zero carbon, supported by initiatives including the use of 100% renewable energy and the implementation of low-flow water technologies.

Preparing for performance

Every event begins long before gates open. Delivering a seamless experience requires detailed planning, coordination and execution across multiple teams and systems.

In the days leading up to a major event, our teams undertake a structured programme of inspections, testing and preparation. This includes pre-event planning meetings, full inspections of hospitality areas, kiosks, toilets and back-of-house facilities, as well as building systems checks and operational testing.

The scale of this activity reflects the complexity of the environment. Across a single event cycle, this includes:

  • 160 box inspections

  • 122 concourse toilet inspections

  • 130 kiosk inspections

  • 15 hospitality suite inspections

  • Full plant and M&E system checks.

Equating to over 75 hours of engineering resource, dedicated to ensuring the stadium is fully prepared, we also coordinate specialist activities such as power distribution, lighting checks and system scheduling, ensuring all infrastructure is operating as expected ahead of the event to deliver a seamless experience.

Real-time response on event day

While preparation is critical, live events require the ability to respond instantly to changing conditions.

On event day, our teams are fully deployed across the stadium, supported by a central helpdesk that logs and manages reactive tasks in real time. Onsite engineers are positioned to respond quickly to issues as they arise, from facilities challenges to system performance, ensuring minimal disruption to visitors and operations.

This balance between proactive preparation and reactive capability is essential to maintaining performance in a live environment where there is no margin for error.

A smarter approach to stadium operations

Across the stadium, we continue to enhance performance through the integration of data, engineering expertise and intelligent systems. By applying a data-led approach to maintenance and asset management, we are able to improve efficiency, reduce resource requirements and support long-term sustainability goals, ensuring the estate not only performs on event day, but continues to improve over time.

Consistent performance, every event

Managing a venue of this scale requires precision, coordination and a deep understanding of how complex systems operate under pressure. Through a combination of planned maintenance, digital insight and responsive service delivery, we provide the consistency and reliability required to support some of the UK’s largest live events, ensuring every event runs as smoothly as possible.
