What we do

Freedom, part of NG Bailey Group, delivers multisector integrated power and infrastructure solutions, with a core focus on Independent Connections Provider (ICP) connections from 11kV to 132kV. We reduce risk, accelerate delivery and support long term network resilience across complex environments. Our capability spans advisory and feasibility services, multidisciplinary design (civil, electrical and structural), land and environmental management, independent connections and regulated network delivery across Distribution Network Operator (DNO) regions. We provide an integrated, multidisciplinary service covering the full lifecycle of electrical infrastructure: strategy, design, approvals, construction, commissioning and handover.

Why choose Freedom

Whether you need a full life-cycle solution or a single specialist service, we provide the assurance and expertise to keep your infrastructure programme moving.

  • End-to-end electrical infrastructure expertise

We bring every stage of your HV/EHV journey under one roof. Our HV and EHV electrical services specialists can support early-stage master planning and grid applications, progress into detailed cable route and substation design, and then manage construction, commissioning and adoption. This joined-up approach shortens interfaces, reduces risk and ensures that decisions made in the early strategy phase stand up technically when they reach site. Because we understand how DNOs, councils, transport authorities and planners work, we can anticipate constraints and build them into the programme from day one. That means fewer surprises later, smoother approvals and a clearer path to energisation.

  • Deep technical credibility

Our Power division has built and upgraded complex HV and EHV infrastructure across the UK, including substations, transformers, cable routes and Special Engineering Difficulties such as major road, rail and river crossings. We are accredited as an Independent Connection Provider (ICP) with full NERS accreditation up to 132kV, giving clients confidence that their contestable works meet the highest technical and safety standards. We also develop and deploy innovative solutions such as the POCMAST™ an award-winning Point of Connection mast. These technologies help make previously marginal schemes viable by reducing outage requirements, construction complexity and overall cost.

  • Urban delivery excellence

Many of our projects sit within dense, heavily regulated urban environments – from central London streets to multi borough regeneration corridors. We are used to working within tight footprints, coordinating with highways, rail and utility stakeholders, and maintaining public and worker safety in live environments. Our teams combine meticulous planning with on-the-ground experience in street works, traffic management and civil construction, ensuring that complex cable routes and substations can be built with minimal disruption to local communities and existing infrastructure.

  • Strategic capability

Beyond engineering, we support the commercial and strategic decisions that sit behind major power investments. We help clients understand the cost, risk and phasing implications of different options, develop robust business cases and prioritise works to align with funding, occupier demand and regulatory milestones. Our Grid & Connection Services, Design & Engineering, Construction & Delivery, and Advisory & Strategy offerings can be accessed as a complete end-to-end partnership or as targeted support for specific stages of your project. Whichever route you choose, our role is to give you certainty: on capacity, on cost and on programme.
