EV Infrastructure

As Principal Contractor, we lead the delivery of complex EV infrastructure projects through integrating design, construction and maintenance to navigate regulation, funding complexity and construction challenges.

Where ambition meets operational reality.

We design and deliver end‑to‑end electric vehicle charging infrastructure that enables organisations to transition their fleets with confidence. From early strategy and feasibility through to installation and long‑term operation, we provide the technical insight, engineering capability and delivery discipline to build reliable, future‑ready EV solutions.

With over a century of experience in electrical infrastructure and a strong track record across the UK’s public and private sectors, we help customers turn complex charging ambitions into operational reality.

From concept to operation.

We take a fully integrated approach, combining design, construction, grid expertise and ongoing maintenance into a single, seamless service. From day one, we map operational requirements, assessing site constraints and navigating regulatory and funding requirements. By applying early engineering intelligence and deep understanding of the energy network, we unlock power capacity, accelerate delivery on constrained sites and de-risk complex, multi-phase programmes.

As Principal Contractor on some of the UK’s largest and most pioneering EV programmes, including high-capacity bus depots, fleet, workplace charging rollouts, and public charging hubs, we ensure infrastructure is built to high standards, minimising disruption and is ready to perform from the moment it goes live to many years to come.

OUR EV CAPABILITIES

Principal Designer

We have extensive experience of acting as Principal Designer on complex EV charging infrastructure projects, bringing together compliance, buildability and operational performance from the earliest stages. Our approach to EV design is informed by an experienced in house team with over 100 years of combined experience designing electrical infrastructure that lasts. We prioritise future proofed, safe and commercially viable solutions that support both rapid deployment and long term operation. We have designed EV charging infrastructure for clients including BP pulse, FirstBus and Aegis, supporting projects from initial concept through to delivery-ready designs.

Principal Contractor

We take great pride in acting as Principal Contractor, providing our clients with confidence that every aspect of their EV project is managed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard. Our teams have the expertise and experience to coordinate all elements of delivery, including HV and LV electrical installations, civil engineering works, line marking, and any retail and public realm elements that are increasingly critical to successful EV sites. With decades of experience delivering complex infrastructure projects, we ensure seamless integration across disciplines, clear programme control, and consistent quality from start to finish.

High Voltage (ICP)

High voltage connection works are a critical component of EV infrastructure delivery, and we offer this capability through our in house ICP, Freedom, giving clients greater control, certainty and programme flexibility. While we are proud of this integrated capability, we are also ICP agnostic and have extensive experience managing HV works delivered by third party ICPs and IDNOs. This allows us to support clients regardless of connection strategy, while maintaining full responsibility for safety, coordination and successful completion of the HV scope.

Maintenance

Through NG Bailey Facilities Management, we maintain a wide range of critical infrastructure assets across the UK. In response to the rapid growth of EV infrastructure, we have invested significantly over recent years in upskilling engineers to maintain EV charging equipment, ensuring chargers remain safe, reliable and operational. We aim to support clients across the entire lifecycle of an EV project, from design and build through to long term operation and maintenance. While we can deliver fully integrated solutions across all four capability areas, we also regularly support projects where only one or two elements are required, with proven case studies demonstrating every possible delivery model.

Differentiation that delivers certainty

As Principal Contractor, we adopt an integrated model connecting design, delivery and long-term maintenance.

    Certainty in complex environments

Precision is fundamental and our experience in live depots, fleet environments and public charging locations means delivery is planned around operations, not at their expense.

  • P1006711.jpg

    Designed for future readiness

Our in-house design teams shape solutions around power availability, space, vehicle movements and future growth, giving clients the flexibility to move to EV at their own pace or scale rapidly to full fleet electrification with confidence.

Unlocking capacity, not just installing chargers

Grid and power infrastructure dictate what is possible. We engage early with DNO/IDNO partners, plan long-lead electrical works and sequence delivery to make capacity available when it’s needed.

    Business as usual, maintained

Using detailed phasing, just-in-time logistics and close collaboration with site teams, our delivery methodology is built for live environments

    Lessons learned, applied at scale

Our dedicated specialist EV infrastructure design and delivery team continually refine our methods, ensures improved efficiency, and confidence to delivery clients current and future EV strategies.

Infrastructure that stands up over time

Our integrated maintenance capability protects uptime, reliability and adaptability as technology and demand change. We think beyond installation, helping safeguard performance, optimise availability and reduce whole-life cost.
