We help power communities

Freedom works in close partnership with regulated Distribution Network Operators across the North of England and Scotland, supporting network resilience across large, geographically diverse regions where reliability, safety and rapid response are critical.

Our teams deliver end‑to‑end regulated network services, supporting asset inspection, repair and renewal programmes across overhead lines, underground cables and substations. From remote rural locations to major urban centres, we help DNOs maintain and modernise networks that are essential to regional economies and communities.

As network demand increases through electrification, renewable integration and regional growth, our people and capabilities continue to support DNO ambitions, delivering resilient, future‑ready networks across the North.

Unique to the North

Given the exposure of northern networks to extreme weather, we provide robust emergency and storm response capability, supporting DNOs during outages caused by high winds, snow, flooding and other severe conditions. Our teams are experienced in rapid mobilisation, fault location, temporary repairs and permanent reinstatement, helping restore supply safely and efficiently.

We also play a key role in wooden pole inspection and replacement programmes across 11kV, 33kV and 66kV networks, ensuring ageing assets are renewed safely and efficiently. We also deliver extensive overhead line refurbishment works, LV overhead and underground cabling, and associated civils, supporting network reinforcement and capacity upgrades.

Our expertise includes substation delivery and renewal, covering both new‑build and refurbishment works up to 132kV. Our integrated approach brings together electrical, civil and cabling disciplines, enabling DNOs to progress complex projects with confidence and reduced delivery risk.
